SHOOTING.
STRATFORD GUN CLUB. The Stratford Gun Club hold a successful day's shooting on Thursday at the trap 3 on Messrs. Nelson and Green's property, East Road, Stratford. The wind was tricky at times, and some of the days wore very inrd to break, hut on the whole the scores were probably the best recorded at any previous shoot. Seven competitions were held, and events were keenly contested. An open sweepstake, which, brought out sixteen competitors, was very interesting, and the winner T. A. Lijieham, was heartily congratulated on his clever performance in breaking tho possible (2i clays). In three other shoots during tto day "possibles" woro registered, namely by F. Whittle in a 12-clay match; by 11. Harrison in a 13-clay match, and by L. B. H. Mellor. F. Casey, and J. Martin in a nine-clay match. Additional interest was given to the fixture by the donation of a trophy from Mr. F. Casey, of Eltham, who is an enthusiastic member of the club, and took part in tho day's proceedings, and personally congratulated the winner, F. Whittle. Mr. H. Campbell's decisions as referee were prompt and unquestioned. Refreshments were provided during the day and the thanks of all are due to Mrs. A. Nelson for her assistance and contributions. Following are the details of tho shoot:— No. 1 shoot, 9 clays.—Four shot eight, namely W. O'Brien (ltiyds), F. I. Tuke (15yds), A. E. Brown (16yds), and H. Harrison (17yds). Twelve competed. No. 2 Sweep (opeu), 21 clays.—T. A. Lineham (15yds), 21, 1; F. Whittle (18yds), and H. Harrison (17yds), 19 each, tied. Sixteen competed. No, 3 (first miss out).—H. Harrison (17yds), won on the fifth round. Ten competed. No. 4 (Mr. Casey's trophy), 12 clays.—F. Whittle (19yds), 12, I; W. O'Brien (ICyds), and G. Mitchell (10yds), 11, 2. Fifteen competed. No, fl, 13 clays.—H. Harrison (17yds), 13, 1; A. Ruscoe (13yds), F. I. Tuke (14yds), and R. .Tonkins (11yds), 12, 2. Thirteen competed. No. fi; 9 clays.—L, H. B. Mellor (11yds.), F. Casey (14yds), and J. Martin, !) each. Thirteen competed. No. 7 (first miss out).—F. I. Tuke (14yds) won on the sixth round.
