' Christchurch, Oct. 13. At Addington to-day, the demand for all sections of stock, excepting store sheep, was keen. In both beef and mutton It was quite up to last week's high standard of values. Store Sheep.—An increased yarding, the quality n6t being so good as last week. The bulk were hoggets, which were In weaker demand. Two-tooth wethers realised from 32s 6d to 32s 10d, inferior 2 and 4-tooth wethers 31s 2d to 335, good 6 and 8-tooth wethers 35s 6d to 36s sd, good 4 and 6-tooth wethers 35s to 37s 3d, sound and failing mouthed ewes and lambs (nil counted) 22s 4d to 26s Id, aged ewes with lambs 18s ild to 22s Bd, fairly good halfbred ewe hoggets 32s 9d to 355, Inferior to medium ewe hoggets 24s to 27s 9d, fairly good hailfhfted wetfrer hoggets 90s, ordinary wether hoggets 24s Od to 28s, mixed sex hoggets 20s to 295. Lambs.—Seventy spring lambs were forwarded and sold at from 32s Cd to 445. Fat Sheep. The yarding was barely sunleient for butchers' weekly requirements. Tie imarlcet opened a shade weaker, but firmed up as it progressed, and was a shade better at the close than last week. Extra prime wethers 56s to 78s, prime wethers 47s 9d to 55s 9d, medium wethers 42s to 46s 9d, light and unfinished wethers 32s to 41s 3d, shorn wethers 33s 3d to 38S, oxtra prime ewes 545, prime ewes 41s 6d to 46s 6d, /medium ewes 3<is 3d to 40s, ligh| and unfinished ewes 25s 3d to 325, shorn ewes 29s 9d, hoggets 31s 9d to 36s 6d. Fat Cattle—The bulk of the yarding Was medium to prime. Values were fully up to last week's level, beet costing butchers about £4 per 100 lb. throughout. Extra rrlrae steers £BS 12s Oil to £4O, prime steers £2B 10s to £35, medium steers £23 15s to £27s 17s 6d, light and unfinished steers £l6 15s to £22 15s, prime heifers £l9 123 6d, ordinary heifers £ls to £l7 10s, light and unfinished £ll to £l4, prime cows £l9 to £2O, ordinary cows £ls 10s to £lB 12s Cd, light and Inferior £lO 10s to £l4 15s. Vtalers.—An over-proportion of Inferior and newly-dropped calves was presonted, and they were not in demand. Runners to £B, good vealers £7 15s, medium calves £4 2s 6d, inferior calves £2 ss. Store Cattle.—Most of the entry was young stuff in poor condition, but a much Improved sale eventuated. Yearlings £3 5s to £4, two-year-old steers £7 to £B, two-year-old heifers £7 15s, empty cows £9 ss, bulls to £l2. Dairy Cows—The demand for anything showing milking strains was keen. Fourth calvers to £26 ss, second and third calvers £l3 to £l6, springing heifers £9 to £lB 15s. Fat Pigs.—The strong values of last week were searecly iraaintalntd. Choppers £8 to £l4, light baconers £G 10s to £7 10s, heavy baconers £8 to £8 ss, extra heavy baconers £9 Ss (average price per lb., Is Id to Is lVfcil), light porkers £4 8s to £5 10s, heavy porkers £5 15s to £6 (average price per lb. Is 3d to Is 3%d). Store Pigs.—Another big yarding and a keen demand. Best stores £4 17s to £6, medium stores £3 10s to £4 10s, small stores £2 10s to £3 ss, weaners £2 to £3 2s 6d, sow with litter £2B. , i BURNSIDE STOCK SALES. DUnedlrt, Oct. 13. There were splendid entries in all departments of fat stock at Burnslde to-day. Country buyers were competing with the butchers and a high level of values were maintained for shep. Fat cattle met with good competition, albough late values were barely maintained. There was a break in the high prices which have been obtained for some considerable tunc past for bacon plgs.n decided reduction for this class taking place. Fat Cattle.—A large yarding of medium quality, a total of 215 head being penned. Many of the animals'offered lacked finish. At the opening of the sale bidding Was somewhat slack, which Was attributable to the large supply sent forward. Extra prime hearywelght bullocks realised up to £34 10s, prime £24 to £3O. medium £l9 to £23, light and unfinished sorts from £ls 10s upwards. Prime heifers realised from £l7 'los to £22, medium £l4 10s to £l7, light and aged £ll upwards. Store Cattle.—A fair supply was 3ent forward, which showed improvements on late yardlngs. For all good sorts competition was keen at. prices well up to late rates. Sheep.—A good yarding of excellent quality, a total of 2662 head being offered. Very few Inferior sheep were sent forward. There was a consistent steady demand from commencement to finish of the sale. The prices realised were good, being on the average about Is a head below last week's high rates. Extra Pfimo heavyweight wethers realised! from 63s 3d to 07s 3d, prime 54s to SOM medium 44s to 525, light and unfinished sorlfl from 38s upwards. Extra prime heavyweight ewes realised up to 56s 6d, prime 43s 6d to 51s 6d, medium 37s 6d to 425, light and aged 25s upwards. Spring Lambs.—Twenty-one were offered, a number being on the small side and not satisfactory for killing purposes. Competition was good and the prices realised ranged from 26s to 40s a bead. Figs.—A good yarding, principally of baconers. For this class the demand was slacker than formerly and prices were at a lower standard, representing In some cases, a fairly big reduction running to 15s a head. The demand for porkers was' steady, though / prices were i: shade lower than last week's | rates. Prime baconers Is o%d to Is per lb., prime porkers from Is 2d to Is 3'td per lb.
