RUSSO-POLISH ARMISTICE.. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright Received Oct. 14, 5.5 p.m. Riga, Oct. 13. The armistice between Russia, Poland, and the Ukraine has been signed, after three weeks' verbal sparring, finishing wit': four days and nights of uninterrupted debate. It is not regarded as a permanent settlement, but is generally considered tg be a contrivance to avoid winter fighting. The worst feature of the treaty is to* treatment of Lithuania, which is left in the lurch by the Bolsheviks, and At th» ?»er«y of Service. Received Oct. 14, 8 p.m. Riga, Oct. 13.
The Bolsheviks, when signing the armistice, stated that they only did so ander oempulsion. The truce will be effective from October 18.—Aus.-N.Z. Sljble Assn.
