WELLINGTON LADIES' CHAMPIONSHIP. SECOND P.OUN'D. By Telegraph.—Press Association Wellington, Last Night. The sceond round of the Wellington ladies' Provincial golf championship was played at Herotaunga to-day in unfavorable weather, rain showers ami a strong breeze affecting tho play. The results were as follows: Mrs. Guy Williams (Masterton) heat Miss D. Anderson (Christchurcli), S up and 4 to play. Miss 1,. Brandon (Wellington) beat Miss E. Brown (Napier), 5 and 3. Mrs. L. Martin (Palmerston North) beat Mrs. Wcddop (Miramar), 8 and 6. Miss Gambrill (Miramar), beat Mrs. Marchhanks (Wellington), 3 and 2. In the semi-final to-morrow, Mrs. Williams plays Miss Brandon, Mrs. Martin plays Miss GombriU. STRATFORD CLUB. The Stratford Golf Club closed the season yesterday, the occasion being marked by a mixed foursomes flag match, and the presentation of the trophies bv the president (Mr. I. S. Lyons). j In declaring the links closed for the seasou, Mr. Lyons said that the season had been remarkable in that the weather hid been so favorable that, there had been only one Thursday aftcrnon on which he had been unable to play golf. He regretted very much that such an enjoyable season had come to a close. Mr. Lyons then presented the trophies to the winners of that afternoon's match, the Rev. C. W. and Mrs. Howard, also the followT ng trophies won during Ihe season: Ladles' championship, Mrs. Glasgow: men's championship, Mr. P. Wright: junior championship, Mr. L. Curtis; and for various matches, Mesdames llutherfurd and Christie, and Messrs. Rutherfuard, P. Wright, H. E. Abraham, W. C. Christie, J. S. Lyons, F. p. Uniacke, L, Curtis, and Ritchie. Tho following are the players and their handicaps in the mixed foursomes nag match of sixteen holes, played yesterday afternoon, and which was won by the Rev. and Mrs. Howard, going up to tho 18th hole:—Christie and Mrs. Glasgow 80; Jago and Airs. Chritie, 80; Rutherfurd and Mrs. Rutherfurd, 85; Hill and Mrs. mil, S3; Curtis and Mrs. Curtis, 87; Salmon and Mrs. Copping, 90; Lynns and Mrs. Lyons, 90; Budge and*lrs. Budge, 100; Uniacke and Miss Uniacke, 95;, Winter and Miss Bates. (13; Williams and Mrs. Pratt, 95; Rev. Howard and Mrs. Howard, 100; Malone and Mrs. Robinson, 115; Anderson and Mrs. King, 85.
