MeSwiney lias completed sixty-one days' hunger-strike at Brixton. He lias been carefully nursed, and his bodily heait has been maintained by hot water bottles. The prison authorities state that he may last another month. They declare that there is no evider. that lie has taken nourishment, but out-' side medical opinion is sceptical, especially as his condition shows comparatively little wastage, and his temperature is almost normal. MeSwiney drinks much water, and also a Baline mixture for the purification of the blood. It is unofficially suggested that relatives who visit him daily give him spirits, wines and fruit juices.
