QUESTION OP CONTRACT WORK. At the last meeting of the Kgmont County Council, the urgent need for the early completion of the Te Roti-Opunake railway was stressed, and it was _ .solved to telegraph to the Minister Public Works asking if he would ci cede the same conditions in regard this railway as had been promised ,W the Auckland -district, -where, it was stated, lie had promised to consider the lotting of a contract for a railway to an approved contractor if one were available. At yesterday's meeting of the Council, a telegram, was read from the Hon. •I. G. Coates notifying that when he know what money was to be expended on the different lines in New Zealand, ho would be very pleased to give the request every consideration.
