POSITION IK QUEENSLAND. The question of future sii/ties of benzine is a very important .me for the world. In this connection il is interesting to note that Mr.. \Y. K. Cameron, Queensland Government Geologist, after inspecting the bores put down on best expert advice at Roma, stated positively that ihe escaping gas shows tiie presence of petrol. Tests are to lie made to ascertain the quantity of petrol in tiie gas. At the present time tiie AngloPersian Oil Company is exploring Papua for oi), and the Federal Government of Australia has decided to grant a bonus of £50,000 for the discovery of deposits on tlie mainland.
