SEA CAPTAINS' PAY.
AN AUSTRALIAN AWARD. By' Telegraph.—rreas Assn.—Copyright. Received Oct. 7, 9.65 p.m. Melbourne, Oct. 7. In the Arbitration Court, Mr. Justice Higgins made, a final award to the dispute between 1 the Merchant Service Guild and the Commonwealth Steamship Owners' Association. He fixed the salaries of masters of sea-going passenger vessels at from £3O 10s to £BO ft month; non-passengers sea-going vessels, £26 10s to £55! and for steamers on inside waters, masters or engineers were awarded £5 10s to £7 10s weekly, all according to tonnage. The award is to operate from October 1. He refused to grant.a request to make the award retrospective from April.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
