SYDNEY WOOL SALES. Br Telegraph.—Press Assii.—Copyright. Sydrey, Oct. 5. To-day the first Sydney wool sale hold since ID 16 took place. Only 2549 bales were offered, mostly a poor and medium selection. Although tho attendance was large, Including French and American buyers, competition was slow. Inferior sorts met a had price and n good deal was passed. Greasy sold to 34:1 and scoured to 50<L Despite slackness of bidding the general trend of prices was up to expectations. Little superior wool was offered and It sold at 35 to 50 per cent., good at 20 to 25 per cent., medium at par to 10 per cent., atyf good broken pieces at 12 to 20 per cent, above appraisement levels. Ltd. have received the following cable from [ their London office under date Ist. inst: — Wool.—Sales closed, about (lilt withdrawn, t Superfine Merino is in per c«'t. and other 1 qualities 15 per cent, to 20 per cent. lower; fine crossbred 10 per cent, to IS per cent, loner; medium and coarse are neglected, nominally 10 per cent, lower. LONDON WOOL SALfeS. Messrs. "Dalgety and Co. Ltd. report having received tbe following cablegram from their London office under date of Oct. 1: —Wool sales continued without improvement and cora,petition was hesitating; 87,500 bales were offered about half of which were sold. As compared with last sales closing rates Merino super 15 per cent, lower, Merino of other descriptions 15 per cent, to 20 per cent, lower, crossbred, fine quality, 10 per cent, to 15 per cent, lower, crossbred wools, medium and coarse quality neglected, nominally 10 per cent, lower. ,
