I)eller\ and sold to the Defence Department on the outbreak of war, the mare Zelma (renamed ißcss) left New Zealand with the main body, being aied to Colonel Powles. I She did good service in Egypt. Sinai, and Palestine, then was taken to France; went with the New Zealand Division to the Rhine in (icrmany, and finally was .returned safely to New Zealand. She is probably the only New Zealand bred horse that has such a remarkable record of travel and adventure, and it speaks well for the care taken o'f her, and her splendid temper and constitution, that she has come back in fine condition. Optain Powles •states that he will be pleased to send her to the show, although, she is not yet yet re-acclimatised, and wears as yet too long a coat to be got into show condition for competition in any class.
