AMERICA AND JAPAN.
A POSSIBLE ESTRANGEMENT. By Telegfaph.—Pres3 Asm.—Copyright. Tokio, Oct, 3. Inquiry in responsible Japanese quarters reveals a feeling of apprehension that the American anti-Japanese movements may eafise exclusion movements against Japanese elsewhere,, especially in the British Dominions. The Japanese contend that the Americans are confusing the present negotiations with general immigration questions, which are not involved. It is further contended that the Americans are blocking Japan's legitimate necessary expansion in Chiriia and Siberia-. Japan must find an outlet for her population. A feeling is general that war with America is impossible, but estrangement is possible. Japanese leaders are alarmed over the growth of domestic and economic conditions and a tendency to blame the nation's leaders for inability to check the alleged moral situation in Japan.—Aus.-N.Z.
