OLD GIRLS' MART DAY.
SECOND-HAND STALL. Quite one of tile moat interesting stalls at the Old Girls' Mart on October fltli will be the second-band stall, where, in addition to books and music, there will be displayed for sale a quantity of really good clothing. Tin; books are all, in good order, and comprise well-known novels, a number of school-books —these are particularly recommended to the .notice of High School boys and girls—and various standard works on logic, psychology, commercial geography, and agriculture. The latter are practically new, and students should not miss the opportunity of acquiring theitt at a nominal charge. All music teachers know +'.J difficulty of obtaining suitable, an' not too expensive, music for their pupils, and will doubtless 'be interested to know that there will be dozens of beginners' pieces at the second-'jiand stall, in addition to numerous well-known songs and other pieces. For the second-band clothes themselves :i catalogue is almost necessary, so many | and varied are the garments which have been donated by Old Girls and friends of the school. They are all in good order, and have bw-n washed, and disinfected to ensure perfectly hygiene conditions. Among tliem may be mentioned two raincoats, a navv f-erge skirt of very fine quality, a niivr serge coat (also unusually good qaulity), a splendid collection of children's garments, many of them quite new, and including dainty frocks of organdie muslin and crepe-de-chine, two evening dresses one'black velvet' and the other* saxe crope-de-ehine (0.5., only worn twice), n set of beautiful Astrakhan for a coat, as well as boots, shoes and slippers. These goods may be seen at the Old Girls' room over the Union Steamship Company's office from 7.30 to fl p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday evenings, October fith and 7th, and are well worth inspection. | The second-hand stall is in charge of Mioses O'Brien, Kirton, Gibson, Allen iuhi Anthony, any of whom will be glad to receive further gifts of clothing, books, music, or articles for the jumble stall, which is also in their care. Quite a number of useful things have been donated for it already, including a clock, jambottles, i wo book : cases and a corner tupboard, shallow' tins for feeding poultry, find a number of benzine tin buckets, complete with handles. FANCY STALL, Another stall in connection with the O.G.A Mart Day is the fancy stall, where will be found many useful and pretty articles. In these' days, when everyone has to do one's own shopping, a large bag or basket is necessary in -which to carry home the various unwieldy parcels of meat, bread, etc. What could be more suitable than the pretty cretonne bags whici. will be found 011 the stall? There will also be roomy stocking b?gs and beaded handbags. Some of tlie other novelties on the stall will bo the glove, handkerchief, and trinket boxes. There will lie camisoles and pretty scented bangers, linen handkerchiefs worked in colors, and many other useful and dainty articles. The committee would be very grateful if people who have promised to make things, or those who have anything t.o give, would please leave them at the Association's rooms in St. Aubvn Street, 1 or with Miss Openshaw at Coller's.
