Mr. Isaac Hunt, a well-known and daring fire brigadesman of a past generation, has died at Auckland at the age of 70. He for many years plied the calling of a waterman on the Waitemata harbor. Messrs. S. 0. Smith, W. T, Jennings, K. Masters and W. D. Powclrell, M.P.'s, were passengers by the mail train from Wellington on Saturday night. They leave for Wellington by the mail train to-morrow.
A cable from London says that Colonel Braitlnvaite, a brother of Miss Lilian Braitlnvaite, the actress, lias married Lady Plunket, widow of Lord J limket, an ex-Governor of New Zealand.
Mr. G. W. Browne, of Xcw Plymouth, Was presented with a life membership badpu of the Taranaki A. and I'. Society at ft meeting of the general committee on Saturday, when there was a very representative attendance. The president (Mr. W. B. Grant) said Mr. Browne had always done his utmost for the Society; he had prepared plans and taken levels for various works free of expense. The medals were only presented for services rendered to tiic Society, and Mr. Browne was a weil-deserv-i"g recipient. In presenting the badges the president thanked Mr. Brnvnn "for ns services to tile Society, and trusted lie would experience continued prosperity in the future. In replying, Mr. Browne referred to his association of over twenty years with the Society. Tie remarked that although he had taken a prominent part, other members of the committee had also done their levelbest. fTe emphasised the value of the Society, and said it behoved the townspeople lo heartily support the Taranaki body.
