• Mr. C. B. Harton, accountant at the Nelson Post Office, has received notice of his transfer to New Plymouth on promotion. Colonel W. E. Collins, of Wellington, has retired from the New Zealand Medical Corps, and has been posted to the retired list. Mr. Alexander McArthur, formerly second engineer of the Corinpa,. has returned to New Zealand from England with Mrs. McArthur, whom he wedded at Home. Mr. McArthur resumes duty in the Union Co.'s service. The death occurred at Normanby yesterday of Mrs. Jane Linn, relict of the late Mr. James Linn, of Normanby. The deceased lady, who was ninety years of age, had been in the district for a lengthy period, and was well-known. The Rev. G. W. Dent, vicar of the Brooklyn parish, towards the end of October will take charge of the Greytown parish. He will be succeeded at Brooklyn by the Rev. A. W. B. Compton, M.A., vicar of Greytown. Both gentlemen were formerly in charge of parishes in Taranaki. Mr. L. T. Symes, manager of the Auckland branch of the Bank of Australasia, is retiring on superannuation after 40 years' service. He has been manager in Auckland for eight years, and previous to that was in the Gisbonie branch for 20 years and in the Gore branch for 10 years.
