THE HUNGER-STRIKERS.
EVERY COMFORT IN GAOL. BODY'S RESERVE OF ENERGY. Bj Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received Sept. 28, 6.5 p.m. London, Sept. 28. A Daily Mail gpecial correspondent in Cork visited the hunger-strikers' gaol. 4Fhe authorities are leaving them solely under the care of nuns. No officials or strangers are admitted, since the prisoners objected to their attentions.
Each man is in a*separaFe ward, and the Government has ordered no expense to be spared to provide every possible arrangemegj; for their comfort. The prison doctor declares that the skilful nursing of .the nuns is the only explanation for the extraordinary condition of the hunger-strikers, some of whom may last for months. Doctors assert that the experience of these patients shows that the body has a reserve of energy sufficient to sustain life for an indefinite period, like a hibernating animal.— Aus.-N.Z. Gable Assn.
