HYDRO-ELECTRIC POWER. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wairoa, Sept. 24." A lengthy conference between the Wairoa Power Board and Hay and Viskerman has closed. The board decided to borrow £IOO,OOO to harness Waikaremo&na, £40,000 for a transmission line from the head works to Wairoa, and £60,000 for subsequent reticulation in the main parts of the country. This is the biggest loan proposal made in Wairoa. COMMITTED FOR TRIAL. Gisborne, Sept. 24. Alexander Roderick M'Crae Williamson pleaded not* guilty to the charge of manslaughter of Harry Pritchard, and was committed for trial CHARGE OF MANSLAUGHTER. PalmerSton N., Sept. 54. In the Police Court, Thomas Henry Davidson was charged with, on September 6th, at Palmerston North, committing manslaughter by causing the death of Robert Dudly Worsfold. He was remanded till October 1 on bail. REDUCED GAS PRESSURE. Wellington, (jSept! 24. Owing to the shortage of coal, the Wellington Gas Company announces that it will be obliged to reduce pressure between 6 p.m. and 7.30 a.m., and that its stock of coal will only last until to-morrow morning, but the Coal Trade Committee has nindertatoen to supply sufficient to carry on over the week-end, by which time it is hoped the Karamea will be in port with cargo from the West Coast. MOANA HELD UP. Wellington, Sept. 24. On tha arrival of the Moana at Wellington to-day, the stewards expressed their intention of standing by the chief cook, who was given 24 hours' notice at Lyttelton last night on account of the firemen objecting to sail if he was allowed to remain on board. Consequently the Moana is held up pending a settlement, and the vesesl in the meantime is timed to sail for Sydney and Hobart at noon to-morrow. TARANAKI SHEARING AWARD. Wellington, Sept. 24. The Taranaki Shearers' and Shepherds' Union and the Taranaki sheepfarmers agreed tteforp the Conciliation Commissioner that the whole of the provisions >of the Shearers' and Shedhands' Award should become an agreement binding on'all sheep-owners owning over 1000 sheep in the Taranaki Industrial district.
