LABOR DAY SPORTS.

The Labor Day sports • this year will be the largest and most important atht letio gathering held in Taranaki for some years. The various committees set up in connection with the holding of tlie sports are receiving enthusiastic help from ail quarters. Mr. W. Roebuck and other enthusiasts are Hvorking hard to ensure a great day for cyclists. Messrs. A. and 15. L. Humphries arc giving their assistance, and running men will know, with these gentlemen assisting, that everything will be up to date. The children will remember tlie way the committee distributed the prizes last year, and it is guaranteed that the children will be equally well provided for on this occasion. In the evening a monster social and dance is to be held in the Coronation Hall, and every effort will he made to eclipse all such previous functions. A local concert party will give an entertainment very shortly, the proceeds of which will be devoted towards prize-money for the sports. Euchi'e parties will also be run for the same object. Tlie success achieved last Labor Day was very gratifying to those concerned, and it is hoped that business people and the public generally will respond with the same generosity as that showii previously.
