MINERS' CRISIS.
POSITION STILL INDEFINITE. : THE OUTLOOK NOT BRIGHT. By Telegraph,—Press Assn.—Copyright. London, Sept. 21. Mr. R. Smillie (President of the Miners' Federation) has ' officially announced that nothing emerged during the conference to justify the prevention of a strike.—United Service. Received Sept. 22, 7.25 p.m. - London, Sept. 21. After hearing Mr. Smillie's announcement that the. executive did not consider that the negotiations with the Government revealed any justification for a prevention of a strike, the miners' conference adjourned to enable the different sections.to discuss the situation. It is believed the miners' leaders are not unanimous in favor of a strike. A deputation from the Women's Political League endeavored to interview the conference to present a petition protesting against a strike, which would inflict untold suffering on millions of innocent women and children. The conference declined to admit the deputation, but received the petition.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
