THE ADRIATIC PROBLEM.
THE FUTURE 6F FUJME. By Jelegrapn.—Pre*s Assn.— Copyright. Received Sept. 20, 12.10 a.m. New York, Seut. 18. The State Department has intimated that the Ameriean forces in the Adriatic will shortly be recalled. The battleship Olympla and several cruisers, which have been acting as custodians of the Aus-tro-Hungitnan ships there, have practicatty completed their mission. The Slate Department has not received an official intimation respecting tty reoorted agreement between Signor Gtoßtfi (feemiet of Italy) and M. Millerttnd (ftwmer of France) concerning the Adriatic. It is pointed out that President Wilson favors an independent State between IWy and Jugoslavia, and that d'AnnunMo's proclamation concerning Flume's independence fulfils President Wilson's desire to see Fiume onto Italian instead of Jugo-Slav in-laejtee,—An*,-N.Z.
