TREATMENT OF HEADACHES.

(From the "Nursing Mirror.")' Headaches are the bane of many lives, and, since the experience of the last few strenuous and anxious yearn are more prevalent, perhaps, than ever before. The following hints may be of use to others, as they have undoubtedly been to the writer:—(l) Few people drink sufficient water. Four tumblerfuls a day (either hot or cold) should lie taken, in addition to the ordinary amount of tea, coll'ee, etc.. drunk with meal.'!—the tirst glass before breakfast and the last on going to bed. (-2) Attention to aperients—small doses of calomel, -Jgr, two or three times a week, with the addition the following morning of a tcaspoonful of salts in the morning glass of water. If necessary, some other aperient should he taken on the night when no calomel is used. A little and often is much more satisfactory than large exhausting doses occasionally. (3; Care with regard to diet, avoiding rich dishes, eating plenty of vegetables, with a liberal allowance of fruit. Three or four apples eaten raw everv day are undoubtedly a great help. (4) Exercise is most important; riding, perhaps, ranking first; brisk, really brisk walking and cycling coming in a good second, especially if combined with exercises practised before an open window for ton minutes -every morning, (fl) Sufficient and good sleep is most essential. Warm feet, the head well raised, a plentiful supply of fresh air—the old bugbear of night air being dangerous haying vanished in these enlightened days—and, if possible, the blinds up; a'few plain biscuits or a little good plain •chocolate at hand in case one wakes, oeling restless, will often defeat the Ireadod sleeplessness which may lead to a morninjr headache. Should these simple remedies fail, the cause, for cause there must be—such as eye-strain, defective teeth, digestive troubles, etc. will be one to be diagnosed and treated by a physician.
