PILFERING ON STEAMER.
FIVE SEAMEN CONVICTED. By Telejjrnph.—Press Association. Christcliurcli. Last Night. Five members of the crow of the steamer Suffolk wore chained at Lyttelton, before Mr. S. E. McCarthy, S.M., with stealing or receiving floods deemed to be part of the ship's cargo. It was brought out in evidence that there had been considerable pilfering of the cargo, and losses to the extent of £3OO had already been discovered. Each of the accused was sentenced to thjfe months' imprisonment.
