The Minister for Education recently asked for an expression of opinion from the teaching profession whether they were in favor of a Dominion grading list governing appointments and promotions, and the executive of the New Zealand Educational Institute accordingly took a national referendum per medium of voting papers in National Education, the official journal, At a meeting of the executive this evening it was reported the returns were Coming in too slowly to enable the Minister to have the result in time to consider it when amending the Act. The executive decided to close the voting on September 25, as the matter was urgent, and teachers were urged to send in their returns at once.
