INQUESTS AT PALMERSTON. By Telegrapl' —Press Association. ( Palmerston X., Sept. 15. At an inquest on the body of Mrs. j. Baker, who died suddenly on -Sepember 7, a verdict" was returned of icart failure in accordance with medical vidence. An inquest was opened on the body •f Robert Dudley Worsfold, wha died n hospital from injuries received hrough colliding with a motor-car while ycling on September 6. It is proceedng. A PROSECUTION ABANDONED. Palmerston N., Sept. 15. The Registrar of the Supreme Court las received direction from the Solici'•r ilcneral to enter a stay of proceednffs in the case of Albert James Wilred Carpentier, charged with indecently two little girls. The case ras heard twice in Wanganui and the urv disagreed. The venue was changed o Palmerston North, and the jury igain disagreed. When the case was leard during the last sessions here a urther trial was ordered, dependent on he Solicitor-General's decision as to a stay of proceedings which? now been irdered.
