Some excellent returns were obtained from several local herds during the past season (says' the Okaiawa correspondent of the Hawera Star). Mr. W. A. Guys average of 3441b. of butter-fat per cow, and Mr. H, Sharp's of 3381b. being first and second respectively on tho list of .Toll's suppers, and Messrs. Harrison's return of just over 300 lb from their herd ot 140 cows also is very creditable, and for such a large herd would take soTne beating. LIVE STOCK PRICES~AT HOME. Aberdeen.—Heifers making to £7O, bullocks to £B7 15s, cows to £6B 15s, large pigi to £24, Ayr.—Sheep in brisk demand from 5 gns to fcS 12s Cd, black faces to £7. Mutton, top, 2s to 2s 2d; lambs, 2s 3d to 2s 4d per ib. I'ut bullocks to £94. Carlisle.—Shcarliug sheep, 2s per lb.; lamln 2s 6d; Best quality builocks slightly"over £6 per cwt.; pork pigs to £26 17s 6d. Glasgow.—Scotch bullocks to £65 ss; Irish cows to £52 15s; sutfolk hoggets to' l'JSs; ualf-breeds to 1295; crosses to 103s; c-c=s lambs to 80s; fat pigs to £24 15s; best Scotch beef to 107s to 112s 3d per cwt. Inverness.—Cattlo offered at first quality and top price per cwt. was 1225.
