'SUGBY CHAMPIONSHIPS. SATURDAY AT NEW PLYMOUTH. It has been decided to play *tho senior championship final between the Clifton and Havrera teams at New Plymouth on Saturday neit, commencing at 3 p.m. These teams have already played two drawn games, and the keenest interest in the forthcoming "clash"' is being evinced throughout the province. As a curtain-raiser, the second grade playoff between Stratford District High School and Clifton will be played, commencing at 1-1j p.m. sharp. AMATEURISM (N RUGBY. Hansen, vice-president of the Rugby Union Referees' Association, and formerly a Wellington player and referee, advocates strict maintenance of amateurism in Rugby. He suggests the adoption of seven in the pack to improve the game, and believes that New Zealand would abolish the wing-for-ward if Australia reduced the scrum—Aus.ft.Z. Cable Assn.
