HARBOR SUPERINTENDENT.

PRESENTATION TO MR. F HENDERSON. The members of the staff of the New Plymouth Harbor Board assembled on Saturday to make a presentation to Mr. i'. Henderson, who has resigned his position as superintendent of works, after nearly 17 years of service with the Board. Captain WaiPojri .(harbor-master), in presenting Mr. Henderson with a leather pocket wallet of the loose leaf index type, and also well filled with sovereign, said the gift was a token from the men of the esteem in which they held the recipient. They were pleased to make the gift, but' regretted that Mr. Henderson was severing his connection with them. He had been a faithful servant of the Board, and at the same time had always shown the utmost consideration for those under him. In thanking Captain Waller and his fellow-employees, Mr. Henderson said that during his 17 years' serivee his relations with the Board and with the staff had always been of the most cordial character. He had always tried to make the conditions for the men as congenial as possible, and as good as he would have liked for himself had he been working under the same circumstances. Tie referred to the early associations in connection with his service with the Board, and to a prediction that the works then undertaken would never permit the speaker in his lifetime to see ocean liners trading to the port. Thhs prediction, he was happy to say, | had been falsified, for he had already I counted 21, and hoped to see hundreds more. He believed the port had a great future, and he would always follow its development with/ the keenest interest. (Applause.)
