Yesterday morning the atmosphere in the sugar workers dispute seemed to be clearing, aud the new vista held, ■promises of better things, but the phase changed rapidly, and this morning the Union's representatives are by no means sanguine of a settlement in the noar future. ! , This unfortunate position is attributed by the union to ,the attitude of the company in respect (to the reinstatement question. Campbell) with a, request that he should state his objection to T6-«»gig-ing certain members of the uniop to Mr. Justice Stringer, and leave it to his Honor to decide whether the, oompaEy had good, and sufficient grounds fo» fle- . Mining to re-instate these men. The manager waa against the proppjul, lipd explained that no matter what/,his ®jvn inclinations in the matter migtyt be lie had to consider the legal aspect. The union secretary very; much regrets the attitude of the manager in the matter, and suggests, as W •!£*" native, with a view to . settling • the poin.t of difference, that the requited , explanation be given to an independent/* tribunal. The union members insist that the point be settled, and opealy 1 state that no settlement can be achieved without it. ■;!: N _ I Consequently it comes as no surprise to those acquainted with, the feeling*.of the men that the reinstatement probi lem is to be discussed at a SMcialmeet 8 ling of the returned soldiers seofcion cf * the union, and the union a* a wholej The returned soldiers meet to-night, and the union on Sunday.
