LADIES' CHAMPIONSHIP. WON BY POVERTY BAY. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Gisborne, Last Night. Tho final of the ladies' hockey tournament was played between Auckland and Poverty Bay.A to-day. The weather was idiaL Auckland put up a good defence in a fast and attractive game, but showed a ladi of combination compared with Poverty Bay. A feature of the day's play was the work of the local half-back line, who completely 'Utshone' their opponents. The opening stages saw the game even, but; the superiority of the local team became evident, as play progressed, and the flcal scores were 0 goals to 1 in favor of Poverty Bay. For the winners, Misses A. Hei, Hill, and Pearce (two each) scored, and Miss Tanner scored for Auckland. The Mayor presented the champion cup to Poverty' Bay, and thex.loyd Shield to vAueJi* land. - '
