DOMINION TOURNAMENT. BRILLIANT TRIAL ROUNDS. (By Wire.—Special Reporter!) Hamilton, Last Night. The New Zealand golf championship tournament opens at St. Andrew's links on Monday, and from present indications fine weather is , all that is required to mako the meeting c.ne • of the most successful ever held. The course is in splendid order, though a little rain . would make it less fiery. The visitors are \ delighted with it, especially the Australians, state the links arc equal to any they ! have played on in the Commonwealth. , Altogether there are 89 entries for the amateur championship, but the number had to be reduced to 72, as they were too t'Aimerous if the programme was to be carried . through in the allotted time. This equals the record for. tho course put up in July by V. Bell, Junr., and is cne stroke better than the performances of H. B. Lusk and Morpeth on these links. WANGANUI FINAL. (By Wire. —Special to News.) Wanganui, Last Night. In the somi-flnnls of the championship, Harold Ceat Powdrell, and Meldrum beat Seymour. In the final, Harold beat Meldrum, one up. NEW PLYMOUTH CLUB. A medal match will be played on the New Plymouth Club's links this afternoon for players nat engaged In the championship. On Tuesday aftemoou, the ladies will play p medal match, playeTs to choose their opponents STRATFORD LADIES' CHAMPIONSHIP. ' The Stratford Golf Club's ladies' championship was won by Mrs. Glasgow, who beat Mrg. Burmester (last year's lady champion), after a vh\v keenly contested imatch, by the narrow margin of one stroke on the 19th hole. MANAWATU LADIES' CHAMPIONSHIP. 4fter a series of exciting contests, Miss Gannbrlll won tho ladies' championship Ojf Manawatu, beating Miss Stock, one up.
