YESTERDAY'S SITTING. AN ELIOT STREET FIGHT. Charges of using threatening behaviour, causing a breach of Hie peace, were preferred against Eric J. Reid and R. T. Eagar, at the Magistrate's Court, New Plymouth, yesterday. The latter did not appear. Evidence was given by Constable Phillips that the defendants were scuffling on the footpath in Eliot Street about 11.45 p.m., and considerable foul language was being used. He coulft not say who was the aggressor, but interviewed at a liter date, Eagar admitted being the cause of the trouble. There was a considerable number of passers-by in the street that night. . . Evidence was given by Leo. F. Bradley, apprenticed jockey, to the flffec't that Eagar, who belonged to another stable, was found in bed in the quarters occupied by Re*ed, another apprentice. He was asked to get out in a friendly way, but when he saw Reid wanted to fight him, and the row eventuated, ultimately ending up on the footpath. Eagar was fined 10s and costs 10s, and the charge against Reid was withdrawn. THE STOCK ACT.
