The Rev. J. Cocker, of Masterton, has been appointed editor of the official organ of the New Zealand Prohibition Party, The Vanguard. Miss Olive Martin, daughter of Sir. and Mrs. J. T. Martin, of Stratford, was ■successful in passing the associate degree examination of tin; Trinity College of Music, which .was'held on Saturday, September 4. It is reported lliai Mr. L. B. (irimBtoiii?, manager of I lie Elihatn .bnuu-li of the Bank of New Zealand, and one time manager at Waitara, is shortly retiring from the bank's service, and proposes to take up his residence in New Plymouth (writes our Waitara correspondent I. Mr. D. C. Bates, Dominion Meteorologist, is at present in New Plymouth, and is engaged on inspection and organisation work in connection with the meteorological department. Mr. Bates visits Waitara to-day. The Hon. G. .T. Anderson (Minister of Internal Affair?) was able to tako his seat in the House of Represents lives yesterday afternoon, and he-was cordially welcomed by his colleagues and fellow members.—Press Association.
