GENERAL PURPOSES COMMITTEE. The New Plymouth-- BorougJi Council met last evening. Present: Crs. Collis (Deputy-Mayor), J. W. Hayden, V. Griffiths, P. J. Hili, A. 15. Sykcs, W. P. Short, A. iS. Inquiry was made by Fred Coleman as to whether there was any prospect of the water service being carried further than the corner of Dorset Avenue, as he was considering building on Dartmoor extension. The writer also inquired what were the prospects of the electric .power passing its present location on the corner. A communication was also received from eleven ratepayers on Dorset Avenue asking that the water be laid on to the terminu of the Street opposite section one There were a number of dwellings going up immediately, and a %in. pipe was: suggested until better arrangements eduld be made. A tender was accepted for the painting of the band rotunda at Kawaroa l'ark. On behalf of St. Mary's Vestry, JVtr. V\ 7 . H. Skinner wrote requesting the Council's favorable consideration for tlie purchase or otherwise of the disused kerb stones lying around in odd lots within the borough. The stones were required for extension or additions to the present church building in the future.—lt was decided that the Vestry be informed that the Council did not wish to part with the stones.
