Mass Meetings of engineers, boilermakers, and stove-makers decided in future not to work on (Saturdays, Brisbane, Sept. 5. Good rains have fallen throughout southern Queensland, ensuring a bountiful spring. A ballot of the Queensland branch of the British Medical Association on the liquor referendum questions resulted in 104 for prohibition, 32 for continuance, and 22 for State-control. Melbourne, Sept. 5. It is unofficially stated that the general elections will be held on October 14.
