DOMINION LADIES' TOURNAMENT. By Telegraph.—Tress Assn.—Copyright. Gisborne, Sept. 4The New Zealand ladies' hockey tournament opened to-day' in food weather, hut it was dull lato in the afternoon. In Section A, Canterbury beat Hawke'a Bay by o goals, scored by Misses flossiter Johnston, and Burr, to one, scored by Miss Ward. Poverty Bay A beat Manawatu by three goals to nil, the scorers lieing Misses HfJI (2), Pcarce (1). AUCKLAND BEAT CANTERBURY. Auckland, Last Night. Canterbury failed to lift the hockey shield in a challengo unatcii with Auckland, homo team winning by one goal to nil. The game was fast arid the play very even, the scoro about indicating the merits of the respective teams. The only goal of the match was scored by Auckland within six minutes of the start of tho game.
