AMERICAN TRADE.

X ABROGATION OF PACTS EXPECTED. By Telegraph.—Press Assn —Copyright. New York, Sept. 1. It is reported that the United States may have to abrogate between 24 and 27 commercial treaties under the new Merchant Marine Act. Notice is to be given on September 3. Entire abrogation of pacts is expected, as foreign Governments will not give preferential treatment in the United States. The treaty of 1814 between the United States and Britain falls specifically within the provision of the new Act.—Aus-N.Z. Cable Assn.
