YESTERDAY'S PROCEEDINGS, THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The Legislative Council met at 2.30 p.m. The Divorce and Matrimonial Causes Amendment Bill (the Hon. J. MacGregor) was read a first time. Sir Francis Bell moved the second reading of the .War Regulations Continuance Bill, and explained that he would move at the proper time to include in the schedule of the regulations to be continued, that which prohibited aliens, unless when licensed, from approaching merchant vessels when loading or unloading at the wharves. The Bill was read a second time, and referred to the Statutes Revision mittee. The Presumption of Survivorship Bill (the Hon. ,1. MacGregor) was referred to the Statutes Revision Committee for further consideration. The Council adjourned at 3.14 p.m HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVE& PUBLIC SERVICE BONUS.'" The House of Representatives met at 2.30 p.m. Replying to Mr. Wright, Mr. Massey said heads of departments and publiservants receiving salaries of £750 would not participate Hi the public service bonus. They would be dealt with in the ordinary way through the Supplementary Estimates. Anomalies had been created by recent payments made, and he had given certain instructions with a view to having those anomalies removed. NEW BILLS. The following Bills were introduced and read a first time: Treaties of Peace Amendment Bill (Mr. Massey); Military Service Amendment Bill (Sir Heaton Rhodes). On the motion of the Hon. E. P. Lee, the Law Practitioners Amendment Bill was read a second time pro forma, and referred to the Statutes Revision Committee. The Coroners' Amendment Bill, whiA provides for fixing the first expenses to be paid in connection with coroners' inquests, was, on the motion'of the Hon E. P. Lee, read a second time without debate. The House rose at 11.55 p.m.
