I THE RACINC DESCRIBED. , NOTES BY "MOTUROA." (By Wiro.—Special to News.) Marton, Last Night. ! Racing opened with the Hack Hurdles, far whic> ten started. Otauru Kid stripped fltte. . of the lot, most followers of form regarding the race as all over. Master Boris, Te Toa, and Diamond Nap led over the first fence, and passing the stand Diamond Nap mas just clear of the pair. Diamond Nap was joined by Otauru Kid six' furlongs from home, and led at the four furlong post. Diamond Nap and Master Boris threw out strong challenges In the straight, hut Otauru Kid held his own, and won nicely. Master Boris was a fair third, and Warning was fourth. Orleans was pulled up lame Pretty Bobby refused to gallop, and finished last. Twenty-four were saddled up for the Trial Plate, including the much-boomed Listowel. From a fair start Itangiata, Milltaire, and Listowel were quickly prominent. Militaire led Itangiata, Listowel, and Prodigal to the straight. Milltaire, who carries Mr. Duncan's colors, finished on strongly, and won nicely by a long neck from Prodigal, with Pakaraka and Rangiata close up next. A good field of fourteen contested the Hack Steeplechase, which was a chapter of accidents. Slumix was early in front, with Ngakanul, Sail Homo, Jacaranda, and Bill jumping best of the others. Slumix appeared to have the race well in hand when he dislodged his rider at the second to .last fence, leaving Ngakanul with a good lead from Sail Home and Jacaranda, in which order they finished. Tornea was fourth and Bill, fifth. Slumix, Mead, Combustion, Lonato, and Forelight fell, Vacuum broke down, while Hard Labor and Yucatan ran off. All Over and Simon were the only absentees from the Marton Handicap, for which Te Oro and Depredation were greatly admired. Mill o' Gowrie, Te Oro, and Marqueteur were leading passing the stand, bat the -field closed up along the back, with Te Oro leading the bunch Classification came through at the home bend and won very easily from Depredation, with Marqueteur a close third. Te Oro and Penury Fiose were next. Ngakanul, 'Jacaranda, Combustion, and Kurnalpi were withdrawn from, the Bnngitikei Steeplechase Foeman was greatly discussed. Tarero, Polthogue, and Mattock were quickly away, but Polthogue was in front as they came to the stand double, where he dug his feet In and crashed into the first fence, bringing disaster to Foeman and Tirau, while Gladful was interfered with and pulled up. Tarero then led from Wlrokino, Matlock. Gaekwar, and Ormesby. Tarero fell in the next round," and Mattock took the lead sir furlongs from home, followed by Wirokino, who nearly fell at the second to last fence. Mattock had things all his own way from this out, winning by a big unargln from Wlrokino, who just beat Gaekwar for second. Ormesby aso completed the course. A protest against Wirokino for boring was sustained, and the stewards reversed the positions of the horses, placing Gaekwar second and Wirokino third. Bowden, the rider of Wirokino, was cautioned. Sutter, Warrawee, Askari, Independence, and Miss Elva dropped out of the Electric Hack, leaving sixteen runners, which included popular horses like Ngata, Some Fashion, and Flight Commander. ■ The start was a straggling one, Crucelie, Jaffna, and Flight Commander being the smartest away. Crucelie looked a-winner at the turn, but Rouen finished strongly and won by over a length. Flight Commander was a close third, with Pure Laziness and Some Fashion next. Slmonidcs and Cormel Arch were the only withdrawals from the Railway Handicap. Ruddy and the bracketed pair, Rekauui and Raceful, were the cynosure of all eyes. Nursing Sister, Matatua, and Ruddy broke the line and ran in that order to the straight, where Matatua momentarily flattered his supporters. Ruddy then put in a run, but quickly gave way to Nursing Sister and Matatuir. while Tirana came fast at the finish and split the pair. Buddy was fourth. Another big field faced the starters li< the Tutaenui Welter, Utuwai and Warrawee tak- | ing up the attention of the spectators After same delay Farce broke the line, Sea Foam | being next away. Farce led along the back and appeared an easy winner at the turn, but died away. Piro Piro, Duo and Warrawee then appeared on the scene, Gray driving Duo home just in front of Warrawee and Piro Piro.
