"THE FAMOUS DIGGERS." EMPIRE THEATRE, SATURDAY After a. wonderfully successful season in Australia, under the J. 0. Williamson banner, "The Famous Diggers" are making a farewell visit to New Zealand prior to going on a tour of the East. Under the direction of Mr. Victor Beck, who has introduced many high-class companies to the Dominion, and under the direction of Tana Faroa, Frank Perkins, and Stan Lawson, this remarkable combination will appear at the Empire on Saturday, Monday and Tuesday next, and will present entirely new programmes, full of mirth, fun and frivolity. It is said that imitation is the aincerest form of flattery, and the number of "Digger" companies that have appeared before Australasian audiences since the advent of "The Famous Diggers" is but a tribute to their excellence and unprecedented success. "The Famous Diggers" return to New Zealßnd bigger, brighter, and better than ever, and with a thorough knowledge of just what Dominion audiences require in the way of bright and breezy entertainment. Once again will patrons delight in the artistry of that inimitable "misleading lady," Stan Lawson. The clever comedians, Tano Fama and Len Lome, are mirth provoking artists of excellence. Gus Dawson, ragtime exponent and dancer, and Len Walker, dancer and light comedian, are a tower of, strength. Frank Perkins (baritone) and George Proctor (tenor) are vocalists who have already made their name. "The Famous Diggers" Company consists of no less than 20 menfbers, the orchestra of 10 being a special feature of the entertainment. The box plans are open at Collier's.
THE PEOPLE'S. ALMA TAYLOR IN "ANNIE LAURIE." To-night's new bill is headed by "Annie Lawrie," starring beautiful Alma Taylor, in another of the aeries of allBritish star productions. The role is said to be the most appealing, tenderhearted and human one that the charming beauty, Alma Taylor, has ever appeared in. The bill includes a gazette, comedy, and "Mary Page No. 12." BIG DOUBLE BILL SATURDAY. A big double bill on Saturday will present H. B. Warner in "The Grey Wolf's Ghost," and Wtn. Russell in another of his big powerful plays, "That Hero Stuff." EVERYBODY'S. MATINEE OF "ROMANCE OF TARZAN" TO-DAY. There will be a special matinee of the famous jungle picture, "The Romance of Tarzan," at Everybody's this afternoon, commencing at 3.30. Special concession prices will prevail for the matinee, viz., adults Is (plus tax), and children 6d. The final ceremony of this wonder picture will take pla'ce at tonight's session. Episodes of breathless realism add a dramatic punch to the great sequel to "Tarzan of the Apes." "The Romance of Tarzan" startles as it fascinates, and this great epic- of the screen deals with strange events that befall Tarzan, the king of the jungle, when he follows the beautiful American girl, whom he has met in the wilds, to her home amidst the splendors of civilised society. The crashing drama and wild beauty of "The Romance of Tarzan" will hold the audience spellbound. It is mighty in its dramatic sweep and supreme in its love interest. Nearly 350 scenes were filmed to make up ' the mammoth production, some of them being staggering in their beautv and originality. COMING TO-MORROW. "THE RAINBOW TRAIL." "The Rainbow Trail," with William Farnum in the stellar role, will be the attraction at Everybody's to-morrow and Saturday. "The Rainbow Trail," one of the best and most popular Western stories, was written by Zane Grey, and the action centres in and about the wilds of the Arizona desert. The scenic settings are said to be of unsurpassed beauty, and include the famous cliff dwellings, the painted desert and the famed Grand Canyon of Arizona. The story is full of dramatic situations, and shows Farnum as the famous Loiter, and also in the character of Sliefford! "The Rainbow Trail" is a sequel to "Riders of the Purple Sage."
