Except in the Lemberg region, where fierce fighting continues, the operations on the Polish front have died down. Both sides are evidently busy regrouping their forces'.—Reuter Service. POLAND'S ALTERNATIVE. PILSUDSKI FAVORS FIGHTING. August 31. The Warsaw correspondent of the Daily Express states that General PilsUdski desires to continue the war to the bitter end. He declares that Poland would always be the object of Russian aggression, even if she signed peace. It would be' impossible to remain stationary on the east frout, maintaining a defensive attitude, as the Entente recom-! mended. Poland, with a small army, badly supplied with munitions, could not hold a fixed front hundreds of miles long. She must either march forward, crushing the Reds completely, or conclude an illusory peace. General Pilsndski said he was convinced that the Russians had not renounced their intention of renewing the attack.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. ITALY AND AMERICAN SYMPATHY. " Washington, August 30. The Italian Government has informed the United States that the American Notfl outlining the attitude of that country on the Polish situation finds Italy in sympathy with the spirit and point of view taken by the United States.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. REDS CLAIM SUCCESS. London, August 31. The Moscow Government haß informed the Russian delegation in London that the Reds have completely annihilated General Wrangel's forces which, landed on the Kuban coast, and have also defeated his troops north of Taurian. Wrangel now holds only the Crimea.
