Received Sept. 1, 8.20 p.m. ' London, August 31 There was unprecedented excitement in the cricket championship, and Lords was-crowded. Lee and Skeet, by boldly forcing the game, though the bowling was nover loose, scored 190 before the luncheon adjournment without loss, but there was a slump after. The first wicket fell for 208, (Lee 108, SPeet 106). Hearne and Hendren made Immediate attacks on Surrey's bowling, but their impetuosity quickly cost them wickets. Warner and Stevens stayed, and the innings was not declared at seven wickets for 316, leaving Surrey three hours. Sahdham alone was confident, and scored 68. The lni Ings closed for 188 Bowling: Stevens, 5 wlc'tets for 61 runs; Hearne, 3 for 37. Warner had a great reception, the en-wd shouldering him to the pavilion.
