TARANAKI STAKES. AN INCREASE FOR NEXT TEAR. "A sub-committee has been dealing this month with the programme for the forth- | fining season," states the annual report of the Taranki Jockey Club. "Stakes for the past year amounted to £6000; the net revenue from the totalisator was £9140 .As stakes will be based on the latter amount It will be seen that tho programme for the coming season will show a large increase in money value, and will be very attractive, and should still further enhance the popularity of the Club's futures. TROTTING. Auckland, Last Night. The Auckland Trotting Club Committee has decided to give £21.000 in stakes during the coming season. Owing to the improvements at Alexandra Park being delayed, it was decided to abandon the spring meeting, and substitute a winter meeting in June next. At the summer meeting the cup will be worth £2OOO, and the two other leading handicaps £IOOO each, with no race less than £250. The Derby of 1922-23 has been raised to .£IOOO.
