FAREWELL TO MR J. E. WILSON. Members of the legal profession assembled at the Auckland Magistrate's Court on Saturday morning to bid. farewell to Mr. J, E.'Wilson, S.M., whjo left by the Mokoia- for Samoa to Luke up tlie position of Chief Judge there. Mr. E. C. Cuttcn, S.M., presided, and there v'as a very large, attendance. Mr. Cufcten said that it was moat gratifying to know that Mr. Wilson had been selected to fill a most impoitant position. The responsibility would; fall upon him of building up a new constitution in Samoa so that it would ■give satisfaction to the various interests there and" be a credit to Now Zealand. Mr. H, P. Richmond, president of j the Auckland Law Society, said that, as ;Mr. Cutten had remarked", tho appointment of Mr. Wilson was a compliment, anyl a well-deserved compliment to the iyew Zealand magistracy. The legal practitioners would miss him, as they had reason to appreciate 1 his fainies3 and j the coinmonsense and dignity with whiclji he had invested his office. They had \ observed Mr. Wilson's interest in social • work, particularly 'in the Juvenile Offenders' Court, and it would be difficult to replace him.
