CUSTOMS DUTY.

NEW PLYMOUTH RETURNS.-, The Customs dutiel collected at the port of New Plymouth since April 1, 1920 (the beginning of the financial year), to date show an increase of over £IOOO compared with the corresponding period of 1919, the total being £44,175 8s 2d, while last year's total was £31,215 4s lOd. V I For the month of August, which -is .included in the above, a decrease is shown, the amount collected last month being' £5543 IBs 4d, compared with £8504 4s 3d for August, 191(9. ' . Beer duty collected at New Plymouth since April 1, 1920, showed an increase of £l7O over the amount for last year, the totals being:—l,92o, £1379 10s 4d; 1919, £1209 14s 2d. Here again the month of August shows a decline, £225 9s Id being collected in 1920, as againßt \ £325 2s 6d in August, 1019. AUCKLAND RETURNS.' • RECORD FOR LAST MONTH. By Telegraph.—Prnss Association. Auckland, Last Night A record sum of £200,081' was collected in! Customs duty at Auckland during August, compared with £98,233 for the same 1 month last year. The Customs revenue collected' during the last eight months totalled £1,190,«18, as compared with £746,804 for the corresponding eight months in 1919.
