OPUNAKE.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) It iS reported that Mr. A. E. Brunnette has ieased the Jigmont Club Hotel to Mr. D. Keyvar, of Napier. Mr. Brunnette has taken a keen interest in harbor and seaside affairs, whilst Mrs. Brunnetie has interested htrself in various local institutions. The hotel management has been the means of attracting numbers of visitors from a distance to spend a few weeks' holiday at our seaside. Mr. Knofflock, farmer, of Ihaia Road, has disposed of his farm to Mr. J. Sinclair. Mr. and Mrs. Knofflock, who have been for thirteen years residents on the road, were the recipients of presentations and a farewell social from the settlers of the road. Mr. Sinclair resigned from the manthe Ihaia Road creamery to take up farming, and the position vacated has 'been taken up by Mr. L. J. Ames. The Opunake Band's social and picture entertainment was well attended. The picture programme provided by Mr..Andrews was of a first-class nature. The music for the dance was provided by Messrs. Rathbone #.nd Humphries, assisted bv members of the band. The annual meeting of shareholders of the Opunake Dairy Company was held on Saturday. There was a good attendance of shareholders present. Mr. M. Hickey. chariman of directors, presided. The report showed that the past season was one of the best in the,past 21 years of the company. The pay-out to suppliers will average Sd. Considering that Opupake is a butter company, this is satisfactory. The Opunake Company require a greater milk supply, the cost ior the small turnover (4,237,2fi41b5) is just as heavy as double that quantity. The following directors were elected: —Messrs. M. Hickey, E. G. Baylis. W. Wan, J. Delcastro, W. L. F. Chambers, .T. Humphries, R. J. Campbell. Mr., Hickey declined re-election to the chairmanship, and Mr, Baylis was elected. At the Magistrate's Court the following cases were dealt with:—For allowing stock to stray, Mollheim Coffey was fined 10s and costs £1 6s; Daniel O'Siillivan £1 and costs £1 Cs; J. P. O'Sullivan. T. J. Mildenhall. J. Waliis,. .T. F. Macßeynolds, J. Hickey junr., E. J. Baylis, Opunake Co-operative Dairy Co., and Oliver <f. Northcott were also fined 10s each, with £1 6s costs. Police v. August Carl Bock (maternal grandfather of -Stanley Bock, child in a Wellington receiving home) was ordered to contribute 7s Cd towards the maintenance of Stanley Bock. Police v. .Toe Crofskey,, Bert Crofskey and Samuel Walker. Detfendant§ were charged with mischief to Jacob Faitie (a hawker) by disfiguring him with red paint. They were ordered to pay £3 damages and costs 235. The Inspector of Stock (Mr. A. Cook) charged Qujckenden Bros, that on 3rd August they allowed swine to wander contrary ,to the Slaughtering and Inspection Act. Convicted and fined £3 and court. costs 7s. The Stock Inspector gave evidence that he had found a diseased beast killed at the yards without notifying him. Such acts were looked upon by the Department in a serious manner. J. B. Harrop v. A. Fowler (defended), claim £4 2s (id. Judgment for defendant, with £1 Is solicitor's fee (Mr. Marshall). Figmont County Council were awarded judgment, for rates amounting to £47 Ins against two natives. E. N. Reynolds v. Waiware, judgment by default for £134 7s fid. costs £2 3s solicitors fee (Mr. MeDavittf) £4 3s, L. Dawson (judgment summons) v.
