Dalgety and Co. report having received the following cablegram from their London house, under date 25th Inst: "Tallow, 1370 casks were offered, and 65 sold at about 2s to 3s decline." Show Grounds, Hawera, we held an Important offering of high class pedigree stock. This sale : was the first of its kind In Taranakl, including entries from moat of the leading Taranakl breeders. Owing t.o the cold weather prevailing, and the shortage of ferd, the cattle were not in the usual condition I'or this time of the year. There was a big attendance. Holsteln, Shorthorn and, Ayrshires were hard to quit, but there was a good demand for' Jerseys of both sexes. We disposed of on account of the following breeders : On account of Mr. R. H. Buxton: Jersey heifer calf, 24 gns., to C. Harrison; Jersey yearling heifer, 56 gns., to Williams Bros ; Jersey bull, 2 years. 50 gns., to R. ,T. The same firm report as under for the week ending August 28: — At Opunake. on Monday, We had a good yarding, particularly dairy cattle. There was a good attendance, but bidding : was lagging. and the demand was not keen for dairy cattle, however, most of the vendors bad come prepared to meet the market, and the majority of the yarding was disposed of under the hammer. We quote: Fat and forward cows £8 lis to £9 3s, empty heifers £5 10s to £0 Os, yearling heifers £2 to £4 16s, steers to £3 ss, dairy cows to £l3, heifers £9 10s to £ls 10s. On Tuesday, at Slanaia, we held our usual fortnightly sale. Prices at late rates. On Wednesday we held our pedigree sale. For quotations we direct your attention to special report appearing in this Issue. Our usual monthly sale was held at Tarata on Friday last, the 27tli inst., a very wet and cold day. There was a fair yarding, but owing to the scarcity of feed a dragging sale resulted. Prices realised were: Yearling heifers £3 10s, culls £2, steers £1 15s, store cows £2 15b to £6 10s, in-calf heifers £9 to £ll. dairy cows £lO to £lB, Private Sales.—The market is quite unless stock offered is good value. Good ln-ealf heifers or dairy cows are soon disposed of, young cattle being very quiet. We quote vsales as follows: Empty heifers £6 5s to £7, good in-calf heifers £l4 15s to £l7, dairy cows £lB to £2l, inferior £ll to £l3, 4year bullocks £ll 15s. FARMERS' CO-OP. WAIKATO STOCK MARKET. The Fanners' Co-op. Auctioneering Co. Ltd. (Hamilton) report:— ■ At Hamilton we had only a moderate yarding of sheep and cattle, but pigs were in increased supply. The beef pens did not contain much of prime quality, but wl.at there was met with strong competition. Second quality was dull of sale, and in many cases failed to reach the vendor's valuation Best bullocks made to £2O lOp, cows to £l2 2s 6d. The market for store cattle generally was much quieter, and a good proportion of the yarding failed to find purchasers. Fresh conditioned cows made to £9 10s, store cows £4 to £6 ss, 3-year steers £lO 7s fid; two-year-old cattle were not much in evidence. Medium quality heifers of this age made to £G. Steers to £fi 7s Gd. The advertised yearling steers, a tip-top line, dill not meet with the competitor! anticipated, and were consequently passed In. Medium , quality yearling steers made to £3 17s Gd, heifers to £4 lis, smaller sorts £2 10s to £3 17s Gd, heifers to £4 lis, smaller sorts £2 10s to £3. Sheep were in small supply with an entire absence of prime quality. Forward wethers reached 355, forward ewes 27s to 28s. The pig pens were 'well filled, and all classes received close attention. No doubt the recent high values realised are tempting tho pig growers into the open market, and these values were fully maintained at yesterday's sale. Baconers made from £G to £7 ss, porkers £5 2s 6d to £6 ss, slips £3 to £3 17s fid, weaner3 30s to £2 10s Gd. FARMERS' CO-OP. The Farmers' Co-op. Society, Ltd report for the week ending Aug 28th. ns follows: At Okaiawa, on the 23rd. inst., we report a good yarding of cattle. Bidding was brisk and practically the whole was sold at the hammer. We quote: Fat cows £l3 to £l3 10s, store ditto £G 12s Gd to £'S 10s, lighter' sorts £4 15s to £5 17s Od, dairy heifers, best sorts to £25, other later sorts £lO 10s to £ls. At Hawera, on Tuesday, we held a sale In conjunction with the N.Z Loan Co. on account of ,T. F. Stevenson, Esq. The stock yaraed reflected great credit on the vender In respect of condition and qitallty. Eighty test Jersey heifers fawn colors, £lB to £l9 10s, dark colored lots £l4 10s to £l7, others according to size and quality £7 10s to £l2 At Eltham, on Wednesday, we report a fair yarding of both sheep and catle, which nil met With fair enquiry. On Wednesday, we sold bv auction at Whenuaktira, on account i>f Mr. P. A. Bourke. There was not a large attendance of buyers, but a satisfactory sale resulted. We quote: Hoggets, best sorts. 20s Sd, others £1 Is. Cattle sold at late rates. At our Ilawera yards, on Thursday, we held our usual fortnightly sale. There was a good yarding of all classes of cattle, which met with good demand, and were mostly sold at auction.
