By Telejraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Sydney, August 2S. Parer and Mcintosh have arrived at Bathurst en route to Melbourne. They were forced to land at Richmond owing to magneto trouble. Three inter-State vessels are (die owing to the owners refusing the demand for additional trimmers. The vessels concerned are the Bakana, Fiona, and Time. Sir Thomas Hughes, chairman of* directors of the Amalgamated Wireless, Ltd., informed a meeting of shareholders that the company has undertaken to hive a direct service between England and Australia within two years. It has offered to handle all classes of messages at one-third the existing rates, and give the Commonwealth 25 per cent, of the profits. It would also hand over the slations to the Government free of pavement at the end of a term of years. Melbourne, August 28. In the House of Representatives, the Govftrnmcnt was defeated by 35 votes to 20 on a clause in the Industrial Arbitration Amendment Bill in a non-party division. It is understood that the Nationalist Party met subsequently and had a wordy exchange with Mr. Hughes. The clause may be re-submitted on Tuesday. - Brisbane, August 28. The Medical Congress decided to found a college of surgeons for Australia and New Zealand. Uniformity of surgical degrees by the Australian universities was also urged.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
