AN ADJUSTMENT OF ACCOUNTS. OFFICER SENT TO LONDON. (By Wire.—Parliamentary Reporter.) Wellington, Last Night. On Friday, while the Defence Estimates were being considered, Mr. Wilford asked some questions about the visit of Captain to Britain to settle disputed claims between the New Zealand Government and the Admiralty, amounting to £500,000 or more. The amount 'in dispute is in reference to the .transport of troops, which was over at a certain stage of the war by the Home Government. 'lt is stated that Captain Kirkwood is a qualified accountant with a lengthy experience of shipping accounts and law, and that he las been connected with transport work j right through the war. He was declared unfit for active'service. He will have associated with him in London Captain Noseda, who was transport officer at the New Zealand Expeditionary Force administrative headquarters, and will have the advice and assistance of the High Commissioner (Sir James Allen). The matter to be dealt with is as adjustment of accounts.
