By the terms of the Trea'.y of Peace Order, 1920, it is unlawful for any per- | son to pay or accept payment of a debt ■. coming within, the provisions of Ariiclo 236 of the Treaty of Peace of Versailles, and communication between the parties interested as debtor or creditor is forbidden. Any person contiaveaiug this provision is liable to be proceeded against and punished as if he had been guilty of the offence of trading with the enemy. Severe penalties are similarly imposed by German Law on German nal tionals contravening this provision of ! the Treaty.
