THE LEAGUE OF NATIONS.
EAS NOT ABOLISHED WAR. (By Wire.—Parliamentary Reporter.) Wellington, Last Night. Some reference was made to the League of Nations in the course of the discussion on defence policy in the House of Representatives to-day, the anti-militarist element in the House suggesting that the existence of the League made large armed forces unnecessary. The Minister for Defence said that the League of Nations had not abolished war, or removed the need for military training. It was not yet a body of assured status, an,d, in any case, the decisions of the League could only be enforced by armies and navies. ' The members of the League were expected to maintain armed forces, which were to be used as required to uphold the rulings of the League.
