SUGGESTION FOR REDUCTION. (By Wire.—Parliamentary Reporter.) Wellington, Last Nlglit. Mr. R. Masters, M.P., has given notice to ask the Minister of Labor whether in view of the statement made by the housing superintendent in his annual report to Parliament for the year ending 1021), that the department had landed 200.' tons of galvanised iron at £4B per ton, when the ruling price in New Zealand at the time of its arrival was . £75. per ton, thus saving the workers on that one item alone £<JOOO, and that in endeavoring to build houses for applicants the department is placed in a difficult position on account of the cost of building being abnormally high, he will extend the operations of his department in the direction of importing material and thereby considerably reduce the cost of homes to those requiring them.
